The Jacksonville Jaguars sit comfortably at the top of the AFC South following a decisive victory over the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday. In contrast, the Baltimore Ravens are struggling to find consistency, having dropped three consecutive games. The upcoming matchup presents a significant challenge for Baltimore, as they will start undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano on Thursday. This decision comes after both Lamar Jackson, who is dealing with a thumb injury, and Tyler Huntley, who has a toe injury, were ruled out.

Fagnano made his debut in relief against the Buffalo Bills last week, completing 10 of 21 pass attempts for 91 yards and one interception. His first start arrives on a short week against a Jaguars defense that ranks second fewest in the league, allowing just 15.9 points per game. The Jacksonville unit also generates pressure on 39% of dropbacks, which could make for a difficult evening for the Baltimore offense if they fall behind early.

The running game will likely be a focal point for Baltimore, as they rely heavily on Derrick Henry to carry the load. However, the Jaguars lead the league in run defense, allowing only 77.4 yards per game. Despite this strength, Jacksonville will be without defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton. On the offensive side, Jaguars running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. may see an expanded role if Bhayshul Tuten is unable to play due to an ankle and foot injury. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who threw three touchdowns on just 14 attempts last week, may again have a limited passing workload if the ground game succeeds.

The betting market has shifted dramatically since the quarterback injuries were announced. Before the news, the Ravens were favored by three points. Now, Jacksonville is favored by 10 points, representing a 13 point swing. The over and under for the game total has also dropped to 40.5. Given the magnitude of the adjustment, bettors may be cautious about laying double digits with the Jaguars on the road.

Strategic factors suggest the Jaguars could control the pace of the game. They average only 59.1 plays per game, which is 26th in the league, and run the ball on 48.3% of their snaps. This approach could help Baltimore stay within the total if Henry can maintain momentum. Alternatively, if Fagnano turns the ball over, the Jaguars may score short fields. Jacksonville has already scored 55 points off takeaways this season.

Player prop markets may offer better value in this specific matchup. Trevor Lawrence averages a league low of 5.1 fourth-quarter dropbacks per game. If Jacksonville builds a lead, his workload could remain light. Meanwhile, Derrick Henry has rushed for 58, 45, and 53 yards in his last three games, but he faces a stout defensive front from the Jaguars.

One notable play is the under on Trevor Lawrence's passing yards at 235.5. Lawrence is playing some of his best football this season, but the Jaguars have not required him to throw often. He has gone under this line in four of his seven games this season. With an undrafted rookie facing him, Lawrence may not have enough volume to clear the number unless Baltimore allows a few explosive plays.

Another angle involves Lawrence's rushing attempts, with the over at 3.5 looking attractive. He has had at least three rushing attempts in four straight games. Facing the Ravens' defense, he may be forced to move outside the pocket, and end of game kneel downs will count toward the total.

Zay Flowers is also a candidate for a prop play, specifically the over on receiving yards at 46.5. He has cleared this line in six of his seven games this season. The low number is largely due to Baltimore's quarterback situation. Although Flowers went without a catch on five targets against Buffalo, he was playing with a quarterback who was called into action abruptly. With more preparation time, Fagnano may target Flowers more often, especially if the Ravens find themselves as double digit underdogs against a strong run defense.
