Jordanian authorities detained three men on Monday morning, all of whom sustained injuries during the operation. The arrests concluded the search for individuals responsible for a shooting at a Greek Orthodox church in the village of Hammoud.

The attack occurred on Friday while a funeral service was underway. According to the Public Security Directorate, the suspects engaged security forces in a shootout at dawn in the Karak governorate, which is located south of the capital, Amman. No members of the security forces were injured during the confrontation.

Mazen Al-Faraya, the Interior Minister, stated that the three arrested men were the primary perpetrators. In a phone interview with the state broadcaster Al-Mamlaka, he described the suspects as having put up fierce resistance before being subdued. Al-Faraya noted that the security services had identified the men early on and used available resources to apprehend them.

The ministry referred to the incident as a terrorist act, claiming the men met their just fate. However, the directorate did not release the names of the suspects or point to any specific connections with Islamist militant groups. No armed organization has publicly claimed responsibility for the shooting.

King Abdullah II directed authorities to act against those seeking to undermine national unity. He described the perpetrators as outlaws of Islam and instructed officials to respond with an iron fist. The Karak region is home to a minority Christian population.
