275-HP Polaris RZR Pro R Boost Tested in Utah
Polaris claims the new suspension system, not just the engine, defines the driving experience of its most powerful side-by-side yet.

The new 2027 Polaris RZR Pro R Boost produces 275 horsepower. That figure represents the peak output for the brand’s Pro R family, yet a recent test drive in Utah suggests the engine is not the vehicle’s defining feature. The most striking aspect of the machine was its smoothness on rough terrain.
Polaris built the RZR Pro R Boost on the four-cylinder ProStar Fury engine. To reach 275 horsepower at 7,000 rpm, engineers added a 60 mm Garrett turbocharger. This setup generates approximately 50 more horsepower than the standard Pro R. Peak torque reaches 223 pound-feet. The power delivery is designed to be flat and consistent rather than spiky, which helps drivers manage acceleration on changing surfaces.
The suspension system, specifically the DYNAMIX DVS technology found on the Ultra trim, received substantial updates. Unlike traditional electronic dampers that only adjust compression and rebound, this system can electronically disconnect sway bars. It makes adjustments up to 200 times per second using input from various sensors. This allows the vehicle to switch between independent wheel movement for rocks and rigid body control for high-speed corners.
During a rock climb segment of the test, the vehicle used its low-range transmission and rock mode. The body remained stable while the suspension maintained wheel articulation. The review team noted that they were driving a production unit with no off-the-shelf modifications. The continuous variable transmission also received upgrades to handle the extra heat and power. It transmitted power smoothly and helped control speed on steep descents.
Polaris reorganized the cooling system to manage the increased heat load. Engine radiators moved to the rear, while body ducts direct air to the transmission and clutch. The vehicle sits on 15-inch beadlock wheels with Pro Armor Tracker 2.0 tires. A vertical 10.4-inch Ride Command screen provides navigation and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The cabin includes four-point harnesses and large physical controls for glove-friendly operation.
The RZR Pro R Boost starts at approximately $50,000 for the two-door Ultimate version. The Ultra trim includes the advanced DYNAMIX DVS suspension. Polaris stated that long-term reliability testing is still ongoing, but the initial development focused heavily on durability for sustained use in desert and mountain environments.
