A 16-year-old boy from Bristol was released on police bail on Wednesday, the latest development in a case involving the serious assault of five teenagers at a Halloween party. The investigation stems from an incident that occurred just after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, at a home on Park Road in Chandler's Ford, Hampshire. Five boys, three aged 16 and two aged 17, suffered serious injuries during the attack.
Police report that a group of people who had not been invited to the event allegedly jumped the fence to reach the party. The five victims were assaulted shortly after. Four of the boys have since been discharged from the hospital. One 17-year-old remains hospitalized in serious condition, a status that was previously described as life-threatening.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed that six individuals have now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Two 16-year-old boys from Southampton were taken into custody on Wednesday. They remain in police holding. Two other 16-year-old boys from Southampton, who were arrested on Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon, also remain in custody. A court granted detectives additional time to question these two suspects this week.
The Bristol resident, along with another boy, was released on bail after initial inquiries. Detective Chief Inspector Elizabeth Pirie, who leads the investigation, stated that the force is working through multiple lines of inquiry. She said officers are piecing together the movements of those believed to be involved in the assault. The team is also reviewing available footage and speaking with witnesses who have contacted the force.
Pirie noted that the release of the two boys came with strict conditions. She explained that the police are monitoring compliance with these terms while the investigation continues. The force is working closely with the Crown Prosecution Service to assess the evidence and determine if charges can be authorized. Pirie thanked those who have already assisted, acknowledging that the event has been distressing for those present at the party.
Officers conducted searches at three addresses linked to the arrested individuals. Two properties in Southampton and one in Bristol were searched. Police seized several items from these locations. The investigation team is asking the public for any information, no matter how small it may seem. People can submit details through a police information portal or by calling 101 and quoting reference number 44260534624.
Those who prefer anonymity can contact the charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or using their website. A spokesperson for the force noted that anyone who has already contacted the police does not need to do so again. The investigation team will reach out to previous contacts as soon as possible.
