Cindy Cunningham, played by Stephanie Waring, is being arrested in the British soap opera Hollyoaks. This latest detention follows her attempt to destroy a laptop she believed contained proof of a crime. The character is being taken into custody for tampering with evidence after being caught by Donny and Dodger Savage on a boat.

The storyline builds on events from earlier in 2026. Cindy returned to the fictional village of Weatherfield earlier this year. She had previously been questioned regarding the death of Rex Gallagher, a case in which she was framed by the character Martin. Her current legal trouble stems from the disappearance of Ste Hay, who was taken against his will in a shopping center in August.

Imran Maalik orchestrated Ste's vanishing. He and Cindy had a brief romantic relationship in Los Angeles, bonding over their shared dislike of Ste. Cindy learned of the full plan and urged Imran to release Ste, but he refused. She eventually helped Lucas Hay and Sienna Blake locate the chef, bringing him back to the village. Lucas then reported Imran's role to Donny, leading to a confrontation outside the boat where police shot Imran.

After the shooting, Imran's mother Misbah threatened Cindy to keep silent. Cindy's fiancé Donny asked her to protect Imran. Imran later told Cindy he was alive and asked her to remove incriminating evidence from the boat. Cindy retrieved a laptop but was caught by Donny and Dodger. To protect Imran, she claimed the device contained inappropriate photos of herself and threw it into the river.

Dodger arrested Cindy for the act. Donny requested a dive team to search for the bag containing the laptop. The character now faces potential time in jail despite her original opposition to Ste's disappearance. The show airs on Channel 4's streaming platform and on E4. New episodes stream from 6 a.m. and air on television at 7 p.m. on Mondays through Wednesdays.

The plot continues to explore the consequences of Cindy's actions. She is now in police custody while the search for the evidence proceeds. The narrative focuses on whether Donny will find the bag and how Cindy's legal status will evolve. The character's frequent interactions with law enforcement have become a recurring theme in the series.
