Netflix Backs 21 New UK Talent

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts released its 2026 U.K. Breakthrough list on Tuesday. The group contains 21 creatives working in film, television, and video games. Netflix supports the program, which is now in its 13th year.

The list includes actors Ella Bruccoleri, Sophie Stone, and Izuka Hoyle. Bruccoleri appeared in The Other Bennet Sister. Stone acted in Falling. Hoyle starred in the series Prisoner. The cohort also covers roles in casting, directing, writing, production design, and hair and makeup.

Jane Millichip, the CEO of BAFTA, stated that the program is designed to help creatives build lasting careers. She noted that the current group comes from diverse backgrounds and skill sets. Millichip said these factors enrich the stories presented on screens.

Anne Mensah, vice president of U.K. content at Netflix, confirmed the company is backing the initiative for a seventh year. She described the list as an exciting range of names. Mensah said the program is part of Netflix's Generation N commitment to supporting emerging talent.

The program provides members with full BAFTA membership. It also offers year-round support, one-to-one meetings, and career guidance. Participants gain access to industry networking events. BAFTA stated that more than 330 people have passed through the program globally.

Many alumni have gone on to create features, games, or shows. They have achieved national and international acclaim. The organization reported that alumni have received more than 200 BAFTA nominations. They have won over 80 awards.

BAFTA North America will announce its U.S. Breakthrough talent later this month. The U.K. list includes 21 individuals. Two casters worked on the film Sunny Dancer as a team. The others are listed individually by their specific role and project.
