Amazon announced on Thursday that it is integrating Uber Eats into its Prime membership services for customers in the United States. The agreement takes effect immediately and allows subscribers to place orders from hundreds of thousands of restaurants directly through Amazon.com and the retailer's shopping app.

Under the new terms, Prime members will not pay delivery fees for orders exceeding $25. To launch the service, the companies are offering a $20 discount on the first two qualifying orders of $25 or more. This promotional offer is valid for the first 14 days following the integration.

This move marks Amazon's second partnership with a restaurant delivery service. In 2024, the Seattle-based company added Grubhub to its Prime benefits. The Grubhub arrangement will end once the Uber Eats partnership is active. Prime subscribers pay $14.99 per month or $139 per year for the service, which includes free shipping on eligible items.

Andrew Macdonald, president and chief operating officer of Uber, commented on the collaboration in a joint statement. He stated that the companies built the experience to make restaurant delivery feel as natural and affordable as ordering any other item through Uber Eats.

The announcement follows a recent development in the food delivery market. Last month, DoorDash said it would pay $17 billion to acquire Instacart. The two companies stated that the deal combines DoorDash's global logistics network with Instacart's grocery delivery technology and its long-standing relationships with supermarkets.

Walmart has also expanded its restaurant delivery capabilities. The retailer began offering delivery from Subway last summer and has since added select locations of Dunkin' and Papa Johns. Greg Cathey, Walmart's senior vice president of e-commerce transformation, reported that 65% of orders placed since launching the Subway delivery service included other Walmart products. The company now lists 2,400 restaurant locations on its platform.
