Daisy Ridley, Sosie Bacon, and Simon Rex are set to appear together in the upcoming horror feature Get Rid of It. The production is scheduled to begin filming at the start of 2027. The project was officially launched at the American Film Market, where Upgrade, CAA Media Finance, and Range Select are handling international sales.

The film is directed by Ry Russo-Young, who is working from a script written by Gemma Holdway. The story centers on Harper, played by Ridley, and her sister Jessie, portrayed by Bacon. The narrative unfolds after Harper discovers she is pregnant following a one-night stand with a mysterious drifter named Miller, a role assigned to Rex.

As the sisters embark on a cross-country road trip, the situation quickly escalates. They find themselves fighting for survival after realizing that the life growing inside Harper may not be entirely human. The plot blends the conventions of a road trip with the tension of a horror survival story.

David Lancaster is serving as the producer for the project. Lancaster is an independent film veteran with a notable track record in high-profile productions. His previous credits include Whiplash, for which he received an Oscar nomination for best picture, as well as Nightcrawler and Drive.

Russo-Young expressed enthusiasm for the material, describing the project as propulsive and playful. She noted that the strength of the film lies in its compelling point of view and the heart found beneath the horror elements. The director stated she was thrilled to bring the story to life with such a gifted group of collaborators.

Ridley is currently involved in Ti West’s upcoming film Ebenezer, where she stars opposite Johnny Depp. She is also recognized for her role as Rey in the most recent Star Wars trilogy. Her other recent work includes Zak Hilditch’s We Bury The Dead and Joachim Ronning’s Young Woman and the Sea.

Bacon is currently starring in the series Scarpetta, directed by Elizabeth Sarnoff, alongside Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis. She recently appeared in the SXSW breakout film Family Movie, which featured her parents Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, as well as her brother Travis Bacon. She is also known for her performances in the horror hit Smile and the detective drama Mare of Easttown.

Rex has gained significant acclaim for his performance in Sean Baker’s Red Rocket. More recently, he starred in Nic Pizzolatto’s Easy’s Waltz and Zoë Kravitz’s Blink Twice. His involvement adds a distinct tone to the ensemble cast of the new horror film.

Russo-Young has previously directed several notable projects, including the sci-fi teen thriller Before I Fall, which starred Zoey Deutch. She also directed the coming-of-age drama The Sun is Also A Star with Charles Melton. Additionally, she is known for her work on the acclaimed AppleTV+ series Shrinking, which was headlined by Harrison Ford and Jason Segel.
