A 41-year-old man from Waldorf died after a security guard shot him during a physical altercation outside a local bar on Halloween night. The stabbing victim was treated for abdominal wounds that investigators described as non-life-threatening.
First responders arrived at The Cut Bar & Restaurant in the 2500 block of Business Park Court shortly after 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. They found the man, identified by local officials as Strong, with a knife still in his hand. He had walked from the interior of the establishment to the parking lot before collapsing.
According to the Charles County Sheriff's Office, Strong and another patron began arguing inside the venue. Strong produced a knife and threatened the other man. A private security guard assigned to the bar stepped in to seize Strong's hand and the weapon.
The confrontation did not end immediately. Strong stabbed the other patron once in the abdomen. As the guard attempted to gain control again, Strong made a second move to stab the victim. The guard fired a single round, striking Strong in the chest.
Paramedics transported the stabbing victim to a hospital for treatment. Strong was pronounced dead at the scene despite medical efforts. The sheriff's office is treating the incident as a homicide.
Detectives continued their investigation as of Sunday, Nov. 1. The agency stated that investigators will submit the full case file to the State's Attorney's Office for review to determine next steps.
