Residents along NE Shaver Street will see a change in construction activity starting this week. Crews are moving from stormwater installation to sidewalk and driveway excavation. This shift begins at the west end of the street near NE 102nd Avenue.

Work hours run from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project manager, Abra McNair, noted that crews are working at several locations simultaneously. Residents should expect noise, dust, and vibration from equipment. Traffic patterns and parking access may change as work progresses.

For the week of November 2 to 6, crews are installing stormwater facilities south of NE Shaver Street at NE 109th and 112th Avenues. NW Natural is relocating gas lines in the 11000 block and between NE 113th and 115th Avenues. Temporary pavement repairs are also underway at multiple locations.

The next phase begins November 9. Sidewalk preparation and excavation will take place between NE 102nd and 105th Avenues. Crews will also install stormwater pipes on the southeast corner of NE 113th Avenue. Gas line relocations will continue between NE 113th and 115th Avenues. Sidewalk work in the 102nd to 105th Avenue stretch is expected to continue through November 20.

Drivers should follow posted detours during work hours. Open trenches are covered with steel plates, and roads reopen at the end of each day. Pedestrians can expect spotters to be present to help people navigate around work zones. Line 22 bus stops may close intermittently, with signs posted at affected stops.

The city is also holding a public open house for the 2045 Transportation System Plan on November 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Historic Parkrose building, 10402 NE Sandy Blvd. An online survey is available until December 7. Additionally, applications are due by November 5 for the Fixing Our Streets Oversight Committee, a volunteer position focused on accountability for street repair funds.

Other projects in the Parkrose area include improvements at NE 112th Avenue and Fremont Court, expected to be complete by the end of 2026. Sidewalk construction on the north side of NE Fremont Street is currently in design, with construction expected in 2028.
