A 41-year-old Goldsboro mechanic died Tuesday after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction on a two-lane highway.
Goldsboro police reported that David Langston was riding westbound on US-70 near North William Street when the collision occurred. The driver, 83-year-old Edward Stewart of Goldsboro, was traveling the wrong way.
Langston’s mother, Peggy Craft, described him as a hard worker who prioritized his 10-year-old son, Dylan. Craft stated that Langston worked as a mechanic in Goldsboro and was known for his generosity.
“He would give the shirt off his back,” Craft said. “The first thing is he loved his son with all his heart, and he spent all the time he could with his son.”
Police charged Stewart with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, reckless driving, and driving the wrong way on a dual lane highway. He is scheduled to appear in court in December.
Craft said Dylan has a large support network. A GoFundMe page has been established to help support the boy following his father’s death.
