Brewers' 11-2 Postseason Run Marks Historic Dominance
Milwaukee’s 103-win season and playoff sweep of the Dodgers and Rays place them in the top tier of modern baseball champions.

The Milwaukee Brewers went 11-2 in the 2026 postseason, a record that ties the best mark in the multiple wild card era. They never faced elimination and trailed in only two series games. This performance places them among the most dominant teams in modern Major League Baseball history.
The team’s regular season record stood at 103 wins. They finished the season by winning 15 of their final 18 games. This stretch means the Brewers posted a 26-5 record from September 6 onward. They entered the playoffs as the hottest team in the National League.
In the National League Division Series, the Brewers defeated the San Diego Padres 3-1. The Padres had won 19 of their previous 22 games leading into that matchup. In the National League Championship Series, Milwaukee swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in four games. The Dodgers had won 100 games during the regular season and were the defending champions from the previous year.
The World Series pitted the Brewers against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays had won 98 games in the regular season and were 7-2 in the postseason before facing Milwaukee. The Brewers won the series in five games. Their only loss came in a 12-inning contest. The Brewers also came within one win of going 8-0 in the LCS and World Series, a mark not achieved since the 1976 Cincinnati Reds.
To gauge the team’s standing, one can compare the Brewers to other recent champions who won at least 100 regular season games. The 2016 Chicago Cubs, 2017 Houston Astros, 2018 Boston Red Sox, and 2022 Houston Astros all fit this criteria. The 2018 Red Sox hold the highest win total on this list. They also never faced elimination in the playoffs, though they trailed 1-0 in the American League Championship Series.
The 2022 Astros went 7-0 in the American League playoffs but lost the first two games of the World Series to the Philadelphia Phillies. They won the next three games to secure the title. The 2016 Cubs trailed 3-1 in both the National League Championship Series and the World Series before winning those contests. The 2017 Astros required seven games in both championship series.
The 2026 Brewers lost only one game between the National League Championship Series and the World Series. This level of postseason consistency distinguishes them from the other recent 100-win champions. The 2025 Dodgers, who won the title with a 93-70 regular season record, are also considered for this tier. They went 13-4 in the 2025 playoffs despite a lower regular season win total.
Among the five 100-win World Series champions since 2012, the Brewers’ postseason resume is the most efficient. The 2018 Red Sox remain a close rival for the top spot due to their regular season dominance. However, the Brewers’ near-perfect playoff record and ability to overcome a 2-1 series deficit in the World Series give them a strong claim to the number one ranking in recent memory.
