Larry Mitchell, a 36-year-old resident of Joliet, was taken into custody on October 29 after threatening a family member with a bottle of alcohol during a domestic dispute in Plainfield. Officers from the Plainfield Police Department responded to a reported disturbance on the 24200 block of West Ottawa Street at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Commander Anthony Novak stated that officers verified Mitchell and the victim were family or household members under Illinois Compiled Statutes. The incident occurred a few days before Halloween, according to police. During the verbal altercation, Mitchell threatened to harm the relative using the bottle.

Mitchell was charged with misdemeanor aggravated assault and booked at the Plainfield Police Department. He was subsequently transferred to the Will County jail. Sheriff's inmate records indicate he also faced charges for child endangerment and parole violation.

The parole violation stems from a 2024 conviction for felony domestic battery. Department of Corrections records show Mitchell was sentenced to one year in prison for that offense. He was readmitted to the Department of Corrections on November 3.

Jail logs list Mitchell's address as the 0-100 block of North Broadway Street in Joliet. The child endangerment charge arose from the same domestic disturbance that led to his initial arrest on October 29.
