Two former Cincinnati Reds managers are seeking induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Contemporary Baseball Era Committee will evaluate eight candidates for the Class of 2027. The group includes four managers and four executives. The ballot features individuals whose primary contributions to the game occurred since 1980.

Dusty Baker managed the Reds from 2008 to 2013. Over a 26 season managerial career, he led the Giants, Cubs, Reds, Nationals, and Astros to 13 postseason appearances. His teams captured the 2022 World Series title with Houston. Baker won the Manager of the Year Award in 1993, 1997, and 2000. As a player, he was a two time All Star and won a World Series ring with the 1981 Dodgers.

Lou Piniella managed the Reds from 1990 to 1992. He guided the team to the 1990 World Series championship. Piniella won 1,835 games across 23 seasons with the Yankees, Reds, Mariners, Devil Rays, and Cubs. He also led the 2001 Mariners to an American League record 116 victories. Piniella won the Manager of the Year Award three times during his career. His 18 year playing career included World Series titles with the 1977 and 1978 Yankees.

The committee meets in San Diego on December 6. MLB Network will announce the vote results live on "MLB Tonight" at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. Candidates must receive 75 percent of the votes cast to secure a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Inductees from this ballot will be enshrined in Cooperstown on July 25, 2027. They will join any players elected by the Baseball Writers' Association of America, with that announcement set for January 19, 2027. The Contemporary Baseball Era process also includes a separate ballot for players, which will be considered in the fall of 2028.

The other six candidates on the current ballot are Sandy Alderson, Bruce Bochy, Joe Maddon, Brian Sabean, Ted Turner, and Bill White. All candidates except Turner are currently living.
