President Donald Trump will travel to Daytona Beach, Florida, on Friday to campaign for Republican candidates in the state’s midterm races. The stop marks the final phase of his national tour as the election approaches.

In Daytona Beach, Trump plans to support Byron Donalds, a representative and Trump ally seeking the governor’s seat. Donalds faces David Jolly, a former Republican congressman who recently switched to the Democratic Party. Polls show Donalds holding a lead, though analysts describe the contest as competitive. This dynamic differs from 2022, when Governor Ron DeSantis won reelection by nearly 20 points.

The president also expects to campaign for Republican members of Congress. Senate candidate Ashley Moody will make the case for retaining her seat in a special election. She runs against state Representative Angie Nixon. DeSantis appointed Moody to the Senate in 2025 following Marco Rubio’s move to the State Department.

Daytona Beach falls within the district of Representative Randy Fine, a freshman lawmaker. Fine was sworn in during April 2025 after winning a special election. He replaced Mike Waltz, who left the House to serve as the United Nations ambassador in the Trump administration.

Florida voluntarily redistricted its congressional map before these midterms. Republicans currently hold 20 of the state’s 28 House seats. The new map may allow that number to increase.
